The First Step…
Dr. Bonie, who earned her doctoral degree from the University of Cincinnati, is a licensed psychologist and certified Gestalt therapist in the state of Ohio, and upholds the highest professional and ethical standards.
Adelia has worked as a licensed professional clinical counselor in the state of Ohio for over 20 years. She has enjoyed working with people of all ages, from 2-102. Her experience has been with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families. She’s also supervised a number of students and counselors in their pursuit of education and licensing. Her educational background includes a Bachelors in Music Education from West Virginia University, Master of Christian Education from Methodist Theological School of Ohio and Master of Science degree from Wright State University. Adelia uses a variety of treatment methods including play therapy, cognitive behavior therapy, attachment therapy, trauma therapy, solution-focused therapy and bibliotherapy. Her belief is that it’s most important to develop a treatment plan that utilizes what is most beneficial for each person and their unique situation and needs.
Joe joined us having worked as a licensed professional clinical counselor and licensed independent chemical dependency counselor in Ohio for over 40 years, working as counselor, supervisor, and manager with a wide range of clients in mental health, substance abuse, and criminal justice settings. His aim is to be flexible and practical in his clinical work and he has found that his substance use treatment experience helps him with all clients. Joe uses an eclectic approach, incorporating elements from cognitive-behavior therapy, reality therapy, and Gestalt therapy, with men, women and couples to help them achieve improved relationships and greater serenity in their lives.
Heidi Spiegel is a licensed clinical social worker. She earned her Master’s degree from George Williams College at Aurora University, Illinois in 1994.
Kay Higgs-Adams holds a Masters in Social Work from the accredited W.Va. University School of Social Work and is licensed as an Independent Social worker Supervisor, State of Ohio. She is a member and credentialed as a certified Family Life Educator with the National Council on Family Relations Board and the National Association of Social Workers. Other credentialing’s include a Military Family Life Consultant, Active Parenting programs educator and Family Advocacy programs management supporting the armed forces. She is certified as a Solution Focused Brief therapist and Prevention Relationship Enhancement Program educator supporting couples therapy concerns.
Denise enjoys the opportunity to assist individuals, couples, and families in finding the solutions that work best for them in solving life’s problems. Approaching these difficulties from a strengths-based perspective, Denise empowers others to find their own solutions through a variety of therapeutic methods, including Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, assertiveness training, and client education. Furthermore, Denise believes that what is affecting one person likely impacts their various social systems, and also utilizes family therapy as necessary to address these social impacts.
Megan Pera, MA, LISW-S, values a strong creative, collaborative relationship with the adults and seniors she works with. While approaching therapy from a strengths-based perspective her integrative style incorporates evidence-based treatments, primarily mindfulness-based cognitive behavioral therapy. Some of her specialties, in addition to depression and anxiety, include trauma, fertility, acute and chronic illness, pain management, LGBT concerns, and grief and loss, including pet loss. She understands the human-animal bond and the important role our animal companions have in our emotional and physical well-being.
Rebecca is a licensed professional clinical counselor and licensed independent chemical dependency counselor. Rebecca has been working with children, adolescents, and adults for over 25 years, first in the capacity as Director of Children and Families in local ministries, and then as a mental health therapist starting in 2009. She has a Master of Ministry and Master of Arts in Counseling degrees from Cincinnati Christian University. Rebecca taught graduate-level counseling students and provided clinical supervision for counseling interns and dependently licensed clinicians.

Situated in the south part of Dayton, we are located in a quaint, red brick house just north of Patterson Road on the corner of Wilmington and Colwick Avenues. The atmosphere is warm and comfortable in a setting not unlike a family room. Children are welcome to bring toys with them.

From 675 Southbound:
Take 35 west to the Smithville exit (turn left). Turn right on Patterson Road, turn right on Wilmington and the office is shortly thereafter on the right side, on the same side of the street as RiteAid (next building up).
From 675 Northbound:
Take 675 north to the Wilmington Pike Exit (turn left). At the Wilmington/Smithville intersection Wilmington Pike splits off to the left. Stay on Wilmington. Cross Patterson Road and the office is shortly thereafter on the right side, on the same side of the street as RiteAid (next building up).
From 75:
